Here's a simple Tom Yum Soup recipe in English:
500 grams of shrimp (peeled, tails on)
1 liter of water
3 stalks lemongrass (bruised)
5 kaffir lime leaves (torn)
2 cm galangal (thinly sliced)
5 red bird's eye chilies (whole or sliced, to taste)
200 grams of straw mushrooms or champignon mushrooms (sliced)
2 tbsp fish sauce
1 tbsp soy sauce (optional)
2 tbsp lime juice
1 tsp sugar
Salt to taste
2 tbsp tom yum paste (store-bought is fine)
3 cherry tomatoes (halved)
Fresh coriander/cilantro for garnish (optional)
Boil the water with lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, and galangal for about 5 minutes until fragrant.
Add the tom yum paste and stir well.
Add mushrooms, tomatoes, and chilies. Cook until mushrooms are tender.
Add the shrimp and cook just until they turn pink.
Season with fish sauce, soy sauce (if using), sugar, and salt to taste.
Turn off the heat and stir in the lime juice.
Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro if desired.
If you prefer the creamy version (Tom Yum Nam Khon), add about 100 ml of coconut milk before adding the shrimp.

3 batang serai (memarkan)
5 lembar daun jeruk purut (sobek-sobek)
2 cm lengkuas (iris tipis)
5 buah cabai rawit merah (utuh atau iris sesuai selera)
200 gram jamur merang atau champignon (iris)
2 sdm saus ikan
1 sdm kecap asin (opsional)
2 sdm air jeruk nipis
1 sdt gula
Garam secukupnya
2 sdm pasta tom yam (bisa dibeli instan di supermarket Asia)
3 buah tomat ceri (belah dua)
Daun ketumbar untuk taburan (opsional)
Rebus air bersama serai, daun jeruk, dan lengkuas hingga harum (sekitar 5 menit).
Masukkan pasta tom yam dan aduk rata.
Tambahkan jamur, tomat, dan cabai. Masak sampai jamur matang.
Masukkan udang, masak sebentar saja sampai udang berubah warna.
Tambahkan saus ikan, kecap asin (jika pakai), gula, dan garam secukupnya.
Terakhir, matikan api dan tambahkan air jeruk nipis. Aduk rata.
Sajikan hangat dengan taburan daun ketumbar.
